Asian Style Turkey Meatballs
Ingredients: (yields 4 servings, about 12 meatballs)
1 lb. ground turkey
1/2 cup panko crumbs
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 whole green onion, chopped
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1 Tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
For the Asian sauce:
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1.5 Tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
1 Tablespoon water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon fresh ginger
green onion and sesame seeds for serving
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large bowl, add turkey, breadcrumbs, garlic, green onions, egg, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Mix with hands until evenly combined.
Grease a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
Portion out 12 meatballs and place on baking sheet. (helps if you wet your hands)
Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165F. Flip once halfway through.
In another large bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the asian sauce until well combined.
Take meatballs out of the oven, and toss in the bowl with the asian sauce, until all meatballs are coated.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion and serve immediately.
